Local travel arrangements are made using private guides and drivers wherever possible.

Expert Specialists
Our specialists have all travelled extensively throughout their regions and in some cases have lived there: you can rely on their first hand knowledge and boundless enthusiasm for their chosen specialist region. You will find an honest "tell it how it is" approach to planning an itinerary, suggesting sights and selecting accommodation.

We insist that they regularly visit the region, meticulously inspect hotels and keep abreast of aspects of travel. We believe this approach is unique to Audley and ensures you have the best possible travel experience.

Tailor-made Journeys
The joy of tailor-made travel is that your complete holiday is designed around your requirements, so you are not tied to the set itinerary of a group. This allows you to explore your own interests and select your own style of accommodation, with our specialist knowledge as your disposal to perfect your travel plans.

Private Travel Arrangements
Our clients always enjoy private transfers and, wherever possible, guided tours with a private guide. This means you can travel at your own pace and tailor-make your day to suit you. If you have a particular interest, your guide can spend more time in that area. Or if one day you feel like a lie-in, your day can be completely re-planned with your guide.

Please note that some excursions are operated on a shared basis (e.g. safari drives).

COMPANY HISTORY

The roots of Audley Travel (or Asian Journeys as it was then) began in 1996. This was when Craig Burkinshaw began the company by leading small group tours around Vietnam, which was then an emerging travel destination. Within a couple of years the company was offering tailor-made journeys and escorted small group tours all over Indochina (Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia) and also Burma and Thailand. Asian Journeys then expanded throughout Asia into China, Malaysia and Indonesia and west into the Indian Subcontinent. The business has grown steadily through word of mouth as many of our travellers have returned to us for another trip, and recommended us to friends.

This tempted us to expand into South America, an area that had long fascinated us. This necessitated a change of name, and so Asian Journeys became Audley Travel, named after the Oxfordshire village where our offices are located.

Today, as we expand beyond Asia and South America, the fundamental pillars upon which we began remain as important today as ever with expert first hand knowledge, attention to detail, personal service and value for money being paramount.

PERSONAL VISITS

If you would like to talk to us in person at any time we welcome visits to our offices, which are in a recently converted barn in rural Oxfordshire.

Directions:
By road, take the M40 to junction 9. Follow the A41 to Bicester, follow signs through the town centre onto the A421 towards Buckingham. One mile beyond Bicester take the second turning to Stratton Audley, then first left into our offices.
